Rand Bellavia Bio

Beckett Gladney

Rand Bellavia is more than one half (by weight) of the singing, songwriting, performing machine that is Ookla the Mok. He sings and plays guitar, trombone, and (when Adam isn't watching) keyboards.

Rand is the Director of the Montante Family Library at D'Youville College. He is also a Visiting Professor in the Masters of Library Science program at the University of Buffalo's School of Informatics and annually teaches a "poetry for physicists" style Poetry appreciation class at D'Youville. Rand has two Masters Degrees, one in Theological Studies and one in Library Science. Both his Masters Theses were about comic books.

Rand has a freakish ability to absorb and retain information. You know that thing you care the most about? You know, your thing? Rand knows more about that than you do. Rand knows all the things! He has a positively unsettling number of facts at his disposal. If you need to know how many home runs George Foster got in 1977 or who played drums for Quiet Riot, he's your man. He's like the Internet only he smells really nice.

Rand loves guilelessness, comic books, Asian cuisine, Sufi poetry, Oxford commas, and Erin. He hates hate, cell phones, eating soup with a teaspoon, and wearing pants.
