The fog comes
on little cat feet.

It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.

and what beneath
draped in fog
just out of reach
and what above
and what beneath
which travels
and which solid still
draped in mist
floats through the night
a diaphanous coat
hiding
defects
conceals what
the light waves
attempts to infiltrate
drifting in the
summer darkness
