As if a half truth
the landscape rises
like the language in the
backroom of a sullen bar
magic minutes increase fleetingly
a cartoon running across the windows
a fledgling painting
a knife thrust into a decaying neighborhood
reframe of the scene
where scrub brush lined
raccoon trails down to the estuary
like everything else this is
mistaken for reality
this is hope for now
everywhere rising
minor epics
played to the tune of the homeless
whistling underneath the balconies
and worshipped as truth
rather than what it is
mulch for some distant bulldozer
