My first "multi-media" toy, The Mickey Mouse Club Newsreel set from Mattel, marketed in the late 1950's. In view, the set's filmstrip projector, additional strips, the black 78 rpm records which provided narration, music and sound effects for each scene, even a tabletop "screen" for bedroom shows. The box features the late Jimmie Dodd, one of two adult co-hosts on the first generation of TV's "Mickey Mouse Club". All powered by two "C" batteries, a flashlight bulb and a generous amount of imagination.
