Goats, Daddy!

Erie County, PA is unusual in its proximity between the distinctly urban and the truly rural. You can walk out of a midnight showing of an art flick like Eraserhead or from a dance club, drive 5 miles and find yourself standing on a moonlit country road with a cornfield or a pasture on either side of you, without another car in sight.

Today I took the girls to an event in Albion, PA, called "Goat Fest". Dollar pony rides, $0.50 rides on an antique wooden carousel, locally produced honey, herbal teas, quilts and Mennonite baked goods -- all a 25 mile drive from downtown Erie.
