Liddy O'Dowd's Photobooth - Bernice Bicknell

Gabrielle Nowicki

Our town was always too small to have its own photobooth, so Liddy O'Dowd, the town's librarian volunteered the use of her closet to be used as one. Of course, Liddy was the photographer. People have had their picture taken in Liddy's closet for close to 35 years.

Liddy had a bad case of the shakes for as long as anyone can remember. Some days are better than others for her, and so you take your chances and hope she's having a good day when you go.

Liddy gets her film in rolls of 12 exposures and the hardware store sends them away by special arrangement, so if you are lucky and two other people have had their pictures taken within a day or two of you, you only have to wait 9 or 10 days to get your photos back.

Admittedly it's not the best arrangement, but it suits most just fine and nobody ever complains because Liddy O'Dowd does it out of the goodness of her heart. Poor old thing.
