The initial devastating wave of zombie attacks catches New York City unprepared. Manhattan and Brooklyn are largely lost in a matter of hours, and the disorganized military response is too little too late.

The Army moves to establish order and run search-and-rescue sweeps in Brooklyn a quick twenty-four hours after the first assault, with disastrous results. Moments before the leading squads are ambushed and slaughtered at State Street in Brooklyn Heights, night patrols report a heavy snowfall on the deserted streets.

This is a shot for the current "Picture This" project at Utata, in which we're given a title to work with and the assignment is to make a picture to match. Our title this month, Island of the Dead, can be read in a lot of ways, and with the most recent George Romero movie just out in theatres I figure zombies are the way to go.
