My dad was a dealer in antique silver because he loved it. He would always point out details in the workmanship. As an adult, I realize that some of the silver we used regularly was probably quite valuable, but Dad thought that silver actually improved with use. The patina became warmer. When I got married, I was given two serving pieces, a gravy ladel and a large serving spoon. The handle of the ladel is the one on the right, above.
