Strong and Fragile

I'm outta control today! Three posts in one day for me is unheard of...
Both of these shots were taken at Coyote Buttes South. The buttes are essentially petrified sand dunes (you can get a sense of scale by looking for the person on the left side of the frame). The buttes are incredibly hard, but they are made of sand.
On the right hand side of the frame you can see just how delicate these structures can be and why the BLM only gives a limited number of permits to this area each day.
