I had a good time last weekend taking E's friends' money (well, OK: change :) and pausing occasionally to fall in love with my 50mm all over again.
mmm 50mm f/1.8. I love you.
Shot me some pool and some pictures tonight at the DCist happy hour. Still going through them, but I loved this one too much to wait.
Months later I discussed this in a Utata thread about the rule of thirds, using it as an example of a tricky subject that pushes the RoT lines. I said:
Also, subjects aren't points. A portrait for example. Do you RoT on the nose? an eye? the weight of the head, if it's turned?

Is this a RoT picture? Well it's not dead center that's for sure. And you can argue that shirt and eyes define the horiz RoT lines. But "he" is off the vertical thirds line any way you look at it.
