This is an obvious example, to me anyway, of a composition using the Rule of Thirds. The horizontal elements: sky/tree line, water, and rocks/foreground are all situated in roughly 1/3 proportion. The figures are placed in the lower right corner, roughly taking up 1/9 of the 9 quadrants.
