Stretching

Henk van der Eijk

The ligh fell beautifuly on this fresh-leaved beech branch hovering over the sidewalk somewhere in Rijswijk.
Beeches are known to go out of their way to find the best light conditions to grow. The forest to the right is too dark. In this case the best conditions apparently are on the other side of the sidewalk, under the crowns of the triple rows of trees that line the busy road.
The first row of trees is within reach. Crossing the second row will only bring him to the cycling path, but from there it's only a short stretch.
Give him time, and he will make it.

Fragile determination in a crispy shade of green.
