In-between rainstorms last Thursday night, I stopped in front of a neighbor's house to get some shots of these iris. He happened to pull into the driveway as I was sitting on the sidewalk shooting them. I said hello and he said hi and I told him I thought these were beautiful. He proceeded to tell me that he is from a small town in Nebraska (and I can't remember the name), and these were growing in his grandparent's yard. He brought them and planted them here, in memory of them.
