These two phillippine women where picking chestnutts up from the grass in the city park and collecting them in used plastic shopping bags.The shopping bags sat on one of the park benches and they where filled with chestnutts.I tried to have a conversation with the two women but they barely spoke any english let alone Flemish/Dutch. I took a few photos but after the third one this woman had enough so I stopped.

She offered me half a chestnutt after she had shown me how to peel it.I looked at half the chestnutt and saw it had mold on it and was soft, almost pulpy. The woman ate the other half and I tried to explain to her that this was one bad chestnutt and that she problably shouldn't eat it.

I have the luxury to throw away a moldy, to soft chestnutt.
