Rohan's First Egg Cream

At his ripe old vantage of 21 months, Rohan is a seasoned hand at tasting delicious things, and he's got the signs and portents down.

When my egg cream comes to the table he eyes it with frank interest, and when I start stirring it briskly with a spoon he breaks out into a huge smile and claps his hands. "Yes!" he crows. "Yes! Yes!" I look surprised. "Really?" I ask. "Do you want to taste this?"

"Yes! Yes! Yes!" I can't think when I've seen such joy.

In fact it's not a great egg cream, and he's not all that crazy about it - but it's worth a deep and thorough taste, along with some concerted straw-licking action. He's not especially interested in coffee or beer or other adult beverages, but something milky that comes needing mixing: clearly it must be child-approved before the meal continues.
