Their last christmas

View On Black - Large

It was purely by accident that I noticed that the frontdoors of the 4 or 5 little houses that used to be owned by the city counsil and that were used to house the poor and socialy depraved by wellfare services, were left wide open.I immediatly realized that all the little houses were abandoned and were destined for demolition.
I saw it as a unique opportunity to be able to go into each and every house and take photographs.

Acually standing there, in the abandoned, slightly moldy, livingroom of someones life made me a bit sad.People left memories behind. Some tangible, like the red fabric dragonfly dangling from the chandelier and green curtains with little white hearts still hanging on windows.Or the lttle green plastic christmas tree with the purple ribbon.

These houses are destined for demolition allright and maybe new dwellings might be erected. In time, even the memory of where once those white little wellfare houses stood will have disappeared.

Nothing lasts forever.
