The grave of a slave who was brought to this part of the world as a manservant, and died in Sunderland Point. My last post of this short series from this grave site. It is a beautiful but lonely spot. The grave is well tended but I left with conflicting emotions.

It is nice to see that people visit this unfortunate man's resting place regularly and they treat his grave with respect. But I'm left with profound sadness at his fate. Torn from his family and his home to be bought and sold, fit only for endless toil. He was brought here only to succomb to an illness he had no defence against. It's easy to forget that amongst the millions of his companions driven onto the African slave ships, he might have been considered one of the lucky ones.
