What Is This?

I went down to take a look at the new Grange Audubon Center near downtown Columbus, OH. Oddly enough, the one thing I didn't get any good photos of was birds...

So I ran across this this laying on the ground and had to take a shot of it. I'm pretty sure it fell from a nearby tree, but I'm not sure what exactly it is or what kind of tree from whence it came.
