Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker

Christian Davis

The name always sounds fake to me, like something an author once made up for their ignorant character to call people who frustrated him. But they're real, they're woodpeckers, and they can be found in the field behind my office in a while. This one was ~25 feet from me as I walked. It saw me but kept eating for a bit before deciding I was too predator-like.
