Do-Si-Do

Linus Gelber

Winter's first seasonal snowfall - I'm not counting the freaky snow-blast last October - began late last night, some time after I came home and went to bed. I woke up early to peek out the window and decide to go for a little more sleep, rather than an early expedition; the dusting was light, and it was still coming down. I'm glad I waited.

When I finally do go out for a couple of hours of walking and shooting along Brooklyn Heights and Cobble Hill, the snow is falling hard and that elusive, precious, fragile winter feeling is in the air: we are cold, the wind is harsh, the snow is crunchy and we are, in that snugged-down Northeast way, happy.
