Coyote for Breakfast

Ken Lunders

The fellows in the room next to ours at Stovepipe Wells had cooked a vegetarian breakfast outdoors using a small propane stove placed on the rock half-wall next to the parking area. They were back in their room getting ready to hit the road.

As I left our room to get something from the car before going to breakfast at the restaurant I saw this coyote on the ridge behind the last of the rooms. I called out to Nancy & got my camera. The guys next door came out too & we took some time getting shots of this sweet coyote.

Apparently, the outdoor cooking had enticed the coyote to check out the area the day before too. She looked pretty healthy, and we didn't feed her.
