This gives a better idea of the overall effect of the spire. This part will be seen inside the cathedral with the rest on top.There will be a glass ceiling around the base so you will be able to look up and see the spire.
Apparently they are looking to have the bishop of New York over for the dedication ceremony which it is hoped will take place on the anniversary of 9/11
