A Tree Grows Through it

Walking through a local park I noticed the tree with many holes pecked into the bark. The pattern suggested the holes were the work of a hungry sapsucker. Looking more closely it finally dawned on me that the tree was either growing through or was being surrounded by another tree of a different kind! Funny I never noticed that before.
