(Muybridge perspective) Skateboarding

Thiophene_ Guy

A skateboarder approaches on the road.

Background
A stationary camera shows a static background with a subject changing position in successive exposures. Muybridge's motion studies, in contrast, simulate a moving camera and show an effectively stationary subject against a moving background. These may be displayed as a polyptych or combined into multiple exposures on a single frame, as here, to emphasize the subject.

The goal was to capture the motion of the scene as we walked down the street. This solution selected three images with approximately the same subject orientation that were scaled and oriented for maximal congruity of the skater before stacking. This has the effect of making the subject clear while the remainder of the image becomes a blur of overlapped scenery.
