Utata Thursday Walk 669

The 14th of February is a weird holiday. Really not a holiday because there's no statutory law that makes it so, only a Catholic feast day tradition and American commercialism. Most of us know the story somewhat: a Roman Christian martyr executed on this day 1,750 years ago for trying to convert Emperor Claudius II to Christianity. One of his last acts, whether true or not, was to send a letter off to the daughter of a judge who'd had let him go years earlier, signing it, "from your Valentine." And a love holiday was said to be born. The chocolates and flowers being a commercial invention of Big Chocolate and Big Card back in the Nineteenth Century. However, the 14th of February has also been inextricably linked to the Parkland, Florida Massacre, this being the one year anniversary of that tragedy. So, today, while you are out doing your Thursday Photo Walk, give a thought to those lost lives. Tag your photos with utata:project=tw669 and post one small image in this thread.
