The current mood of the world seems more raucous than ever, probably because it's 2020, pandemic and all. Or it's our ever-more interconnected world. It's a common misconception that Marshall McLuhan was a positivist when it came to television when he wrote about the Global Village. What's forgotten was that he feared television only reinforced human tribalism. It seems even more so with the internet, especially social media.
