Crossing the Heaphy 35-365

Amelia White

The Heaphy River bridge is the longest Suspended deck suspension bridge built by the Department of Conservation - 148.8m long. It's not very high though, but boy does it bounce with a few people on it - an experience absolutely excruciating on my sore ankle. We learned that lesson, and all the rest of the suspension bridges I walked on my own to minimise bounce.

365/2021 Treasure Hunt: 17. Bridge over (troubled) water
(The water is not particularly troubled today, but there is a warning at the hut overlooking the bridge that if there is water on the grass, don't continue down the track as it will be head high in places, so it obviously CAN be quite troubled)
