It's an odd feeling having grown up in a constitutional monarchy -- with this woman's face on your coins, banknotes, stamps, and portrait hanging in government offices across the country -- to bear witness to the end of her reign. It's a subtle effect in Canada unlike in England where I am sure the body politic is convulsed with sadness.
