These photographs were taken in the town of Concrete, Washington State USA, a small Pacific Northwest logging town nestled in the North Cascades . Jack Kerouac passed thru here in the 1950 's on his way to a fire lookout on Desolation Peak,hence the name of his book 'Desolation Angels '. The fortunes of the people of Concrete have risen and fallen with the times. These photos document the tattered edges of decline in Concrete, alternately sad and at times wryly comic.
