An Empty Glass of Mint Tea
Joseph C. Delgado
There’s nothing spectacular about this picture. I am not even expecting it to be commented or invited to be posted to any of the groups here. (Though I would appreciate it if you will leave a message or two after viewing it. Constructive criticism is even highly appreciated.)
It’s simply an empty glass of mint tea. I just took a photo for a record… as a remembrance. It was taken on Sunday, 11 May 2007. An Algerian friend brought a Filipino colleague and me to what used to be an amusement park, “Parc d’attraction de Djebl El Ouahch”, located on a higher ground where you can have a panoramic view of Constantine. He brought us there to drink tea.
It brought back the times I was staying in Da Nang, Vietnam. I used to go “home” to a Vietnamese friend’s house in Lang Co to spend my weekends. Our Sunday mornings were usually spent sitting in a coffee shop along the road talking about everything that have gone through during the whole week that we were not together while we were drinking “cà phê sữa đá” (iced coffee with milk). Oh, we’re also drinking “trà nóng” (hot tea), which was free, while waiting for the coffee to be served and during the rest of our stay in the coffee shop after the coffee had been consumed.
Funny how an empty glass of tea could bring back a memory...oh, sentimental fool!
