This is probably the first picture I ever took where I thought "hey, that came out really well" ...

It was taken with a Minolta XG-M (my first 35mm SLR, a gift from my dad) & probably a 50mm lens. "Automatic" on this camera was an aperture priority mode, and I was pleased that I chose the right aperture to get some bokeh (though I didn't know the word at the time).

Of course, when I showed this picture to some of my friends, they wanted to know what the memorial said or why I didn't have any people in my shot ...
