Grain Stop

Linus Gelber

It's over a year since my spring weekend trip to Minneapolis - this picture is a long time coming. On the drive in from the airport we pass this Harvest States silo complex, and I can't wait to get out and take pictures there.

Photographing the site is harder than I expected. There's a massive blank quality to the structures which is hard to capture. They're all too big to fit into my average lenses, and shooting details doesn't communicate the size and visual weight of them. I have no history with towers like this, with lines so different than our East Coast city towers.
