For some reason, this reminds me of the movie "The Karate Kid". I think this design is reminiscent of the Miyagi-san design on the back of Daniel LaRusso's karate gi.
(I saw the ending of the Karate Kid about 100 times when I worked at a movie theatre in the summer of 1984, when the movie came out)
