Bleeding for the Cause

Brett Fernau

One of the reasons I have so much affection for the cars that I build and drive, is that each one is a blood brother to me. There doesn't seem to be any way to work on cars without bleeding at some point or another. Not the way I do it, at least. I've seen the new generation of mechanics wearing gloves, but I don't suppose they help all that much when the wrench slips. I've done it barehanded for over 30 years and I like the feel of the tools against my skin. I can't say that I enjoy the pain of a bashed knuckle, but I think it's inevitable.
