Hand Time

Tom Atwell

As selected by solecism for Utata's Viewer's Choice project.

I have a hereditary condition whereby over a period of many years the material that the skin of the hand is attached to tightens up. The doctor said this condition has been pinpointed to people with northeastern Germany heritage. I knew that I had a lot of German in me. It took a doctor to tell me what part of Germany.

Anyway, this condition keeps the fingers from being able to straighten. On this hand it is mostly affecting the small and middle fingers. The small finger has lost about 45 degrees of movement. When it gets to 90 degrees the doctor will operate. There will be a scar but the movement will be restored.
