Neera has waited for years - YEARS - to gain U.S. citizenship. Every year she'd throw in her hope for a winning lot in the green card lottery but her name never came up.

Finally when she had given up on any hope of winning the annual green card lottery and had taken on an attorney to help her through the maze of paperwork involved to get that next step closer to obtaining citizenship ... she got the news she'd been waiting to hear: her name finally came up.

Megan (Neera's partner) threw a surprise champagne brunch cruise for friends and family to celebrate Neera's great success and luck. Each of us brought the schlockiest nastiest funniest "Welcome to America (now that you've been here for 15 years)" gifts and toured the Milwaukee/Lake Michigan lakefront.
