A few seconds later, Munchen's finest firefighters showed up in the square. We're still not quite sure what happened, but the prevalence of breathing equipment on the firefighters and the fact that they descended into the U-Bahn lines tells me that it was something serious.

German firefighters came heavily outfitted!
