Once upon a time, I fondly imagined I might learn to draw with pastels. They have been lying neglected in their box for many years. I dug them out after visiting the Sam Szafran exhibition at the Fondation Gianadda in Martigny yesterday. Szafran uses Roché pastels as well as watercolours, on bamboo silk paper.
