Portrait a la Monet

Andriy Chernevych

August 7, 2006
This photo was taken at the Heritage Festival in Edmonton in Korean pavilion. Initially, I inteded to shoot the process of making origami being attempted by several kids at the table, when I realized that I should seek permission of the kid's parents. To my great relief (all these Flickr discussions on how paranoid parents get when their children get into smb's viewfinder ) the mom was not alarmed and immidiately suggested to the children to look at the camera. So that is how I got the chance to take this beautiful portrait of the oldest of two sisters. I liked the image on the LCD and told the mom I could send the picture by email, which I did the next morning. I also felt it would be proper to obtain the parents' permission to post the photo online, which was graciously granted.
