Abstract Rocking Chair
Joey Rozier

A rocking chair with shadows cast by sunlight. (I'd be happy if you view it large.)
This is an homage to Paul Strand, specifically his early abstract works (such as Abstraction, Twin Lakes, Connecticut and Chair Abstract, Twin Lakes, Connecticut. I created this for Utata's Utata Pays Homage Weekend Project, but it's definitely the style of photography I enjoy shooting the most (at this point, at least).
It's an homage, but it's definitely different from his earlier works (and not just in terms of quality). He used a mixture of shapes and reflections, which I don't use here. He also didn't get as close in as I did in the shots I've seen.
This is sort of a jumble of his Abstract Chair. I've moved in closer so that the chair is even more abstract, and I use shadows that the chair itself casts (instead of a separate source).
I had originally thought about shooting an homage to Stieglitz using the O'Keeffe portrait I mentioned earlier, but I still haven't been able to find it, and when I saw that someone else had already made a Stieglitz/O'Keeffe hand homage, I decided to make this one instead.
This chair was also featured in an earlier photo of mine, The rocking chair had been stilled..
