family portrait, summer 2006

Stephanie Fysh

for "Utata Poses"

I asked them to sit on the rock so I could take a picture of them, but not to look at each other; the rest was their own -- how far apart they sat, how they held their knees, where they looked. (They were cooperative enough to do it again, too, so I could get an exposure I preferred.) There is, I think, something between posed and candid that allows me to get a composition I want and still capture some of their true personalities, an honest moment.
