Earth

Jay Falco

When the monsoon rains dry up, this is what's left in Arizona. Our monsoon isn't over quite yet, but it's certainly waning.

I've probably viewed this picture more since I've taken it than others taken at the same time. It's not... a big achievement or anything. I think maybe it just speaks to me. Perhaps it's because the ground is one of our providers. It supports us, shelters us, feeds us. Sometimes when we need answers, we find them staring at the dirt. Often when nervous, again we look to the earth. It's where our mortal forms come from and will return. It lives and breathes, changing every passing day. When a person is stable, purposeful, strong - they are said to be grounded. When something goes wrong, the ground comes out from under them. So many things are attributed to, or associated from the ground.

What do you see?
