At Night

Linus Gelber

I rarely do any fashion photography, because I'm not really a fashion type, but New York is a fashion town, so.

At the Garden of Ono in the fancy Gansevoort Hotel, Fashion for Peace is a fundraiser for The Business Council for Peace, a group which gives assistance to womens' businesses in marginal post-conflict nations. Tonight's benefit is for target businesses in Afghanistan, Rwanda and Iraq.

Four up-and-coming designers show their stuff in a sort of prequel to the upcoming New York Fashion Week. We have wind and rain courtesy of ex-Hurricane Ernesto, but the crowd is plucky and the show ends up being a lot of fun.

In an among the proper fashion pictures which actually show the clothing, I indulge in some shots of shadow, shape, and texture - there's a drama to the fabrics that tends to vanish under better light.

Shirt by Bogosse. I'm on assignment tonight with New York Cool; see the rest of my Fashion for Peace shots over there.
