Only time will tell

Ian Blum

Man has always been concerned by the concept of time, from the earliest sundials to the most precise atomic clocks we strive to be ever more precise when it comes to defining the past, present, and the future. Maybe we've inherited this obsession from our ancestors in the form of a large frontal lobe. In fact, our abilities to plan and carry out tasks on a time scale is indeed a uniquely human characteristic. No other plant or animal on the entire planets is capable of making an apointment to see the dentist two months in advance, planning the event by taking the day off work, making sure there is a babysitter to look after the children, marking the occasion on a calender, setting an alarm clock (or two), then sleeping through the appointment because of a bad nights sleep worrying about missing it.
