I tire of caring
empathizing, walking in the shoes
of others to understand
be tender with, respect
when no one else attempts reciprocation

I tire of loving
giving of myself, in order to spread
the random gentle or
the gray acceptance that opens
mind, heart, body to new experience
when all I meet is denial

is it time to stop resisting
apathy?
