1324 - Ghost Shipyard

Mark Fletcher

What's left of Haverton Hill Shipyard. Once a thriving working class industrial community, the whole area is now desolete and run down. Despite this there are some excellent views of the very much alive Transporter bridge.

I took this in black & white to try to portray the atmosphere of the place. It's as if you can feel the presence of the hundreds of men and women who worked there. My ancestors lived and worked and indeed flourished in Haverton Hill. I remember being taken as a child to watch a ship being launched.
