Yesterday morning I took a long walk around the acres in my backyard, wrapped in a gray-green fog as thick as any seen along the Thames.

Today it rained torrents and the wind blew in violent gusts, ripping the last remaining leaves from the trees. This is November at the house on Rolling Green Hill.
