Mount Zion

This historic church, designed by George Wallace Spooner, was built in 1884 to house a congregation that had been meeting as the "Mount Zion First African Baptist Church of Charlottesville" since about 1867. Several other Charlottesville churches, including Rose Hill Baptist, Ebenezer Baptist, and Zion Union Baptist all came out of this church.
