A long sandspit runs from Montana de Oro State Park almost to the rock. Between the Rock and the Sandspit is the harbor mouth -- and it is very dangerous. It has capsized many a boat -- including George C. Scott's boat in the 70s. Everybody loves that picture around here. It hangs in the windows of the shops along the Embarcadero.
