Candle Clock Radio

Phillip Chee

I bought this clock radio in 1986 when I went off to university. It's been at my bedside pretty much since then except for a year (10 years ago) when we replaced it with Sony model. The Sony's dual alarm functions broke after its warranty expired (typical). So the Candle was brought back into service. It hasn't left since.

It does have a tape deck, but after 3 weeks of first using it started to eat my tapes. It was a novelty to be woken up by a mixed tape that would have worn thin anyway. Normally we have the radio wake us up (CKRU-AM).

I truly believe this box of transistors will outlast me...
